Statement of Stockholders’ Equity
Instead of a separate statement of retained earnings, companies commonly
report a statement of stockholders’ equity that includes changes in
retained earnings. A
statement of stockholders’ equity Financial
statement that lists the beginning and ending balances of each major
equity account and describes all changes in those accounts. lists
the beginning and ending balances of key equity accounts and describes
the changes that occur during the period. The companies in Appendix A
report such a statement. The usual format is to provide a column for
each component of equity and use the rows to describe events occurring
in the period. Exhibit 13.16 shows a condensed statement for
Apple.
